Interiors of Arran

A 'sister' book to the Arran Civic Trust's popular title Buildings of Arran, also available on this site.
 
Since Arran and its buildings are in a constant state of change and renewal these items are a testimony to the island's past, many of which are likely to disappear in the wake of progress as house are modernised or public buildings redesigned for new purposes.
 
Arran can demonstrates aspects of various perriods of design common elsewhere such as Regency, Victorian Gothic, Art Nouveau, Arts and Crafts, Art-Deco, Ayrshire Vernacular and Modernism.  Indeed Arran is not without its share of good examples, in particular of Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau movements.
 
With this book the Arran Civic Trust hopes to demonstrate the richness of the island's heritage and the resourcefulness of its people with many examples of aesthetic sensitivity and local artisanal skill.
